CF Reports in Flex?!

Posted: January 19, 2007 in ColdFusion, Flex

Hello World,

That’s right. The version 2.0.1 upgrade delivered more to us than Modules and dynamic CSS support. It also delivered to us an upgrade to the ColdFusion/Flex Wizard. Remember that little plug-in that allows you to create Flex-based Master, Detail, and Master/Detail pages based on our data model? Well now it allows you to create a Report page. You can now instruct the wizard to build a page that will include your ColdFusion report (.cfr).

In order to activate this new feature, you need to install OR reinstall the ColdFusion/Flex Wizard plugin. If you are installing Flex 2.0.1 for the first time or performing a full installation then you could simply follow the directions found in the Installing the ColdFusion Extensions for Flex Builder 2.htm file. For Windows users this file is normally found in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 2\ColdFusion Extensions for Flex Builder folder (it may be different based on your installation).

If you already have Flex 2.0.1 installed then it is suggested that you remove the ColdFusion/Flex Wizard plugin and reinstall the newest version of the plugin.

During the next few days I will be posting a couple of articles describing this new feature and how you can include ColdFusion reports in you Flex application without using the ColdFusion/Flex Wizard.
